Funke Akindele makes history as her movie hits N1 billion in just 19 days.

Funke Akindele has made history with her latest movie, "Everybody Loves Jenifa," which has grossed over N1 billion in just 19 days, breaking multiple records in the Nigerian film industry. This achievement is a testament to Akindele's talent, perseverance, and dedication to her craft.

"Everybody Loves Jenifa" is the fastest Nollywood production to hit the N1 billion mark, surpassing Akindele's previous record-breaking film, "A Tribe Called Judah," which took 21 days to reach the same milestone. The movie's success can be attributed to Akindele's unique storytelling style, which blends comedy, drama, and social commentary.

The movie premiered on December 11, 2024, and grossed N250 million over the past weekend, bringing its total earnings to N1.035 billion. This makes it the highest-grossing opening-day film in Nollywood history, having earned N45.2 million from 9,409 admissions on its opening day.

Akindele expressed her gratitude to fans in Nigeria and Ghana for their support, thanking them for making the success possible. She also encouraged audiences worldwide to continue watching the film, which is part of the long-running Jenifa franchise, which began in 2008.

In addition to its domestic success, "Everybody Loves Jenifa" has also performed well internationally, grossing $100,000 in cinema revenue during its opening week in the diaspora. The movie features a star-studded cast, including Layi Wasabi, Nancy Isime, Jackie Appiah, Falz, Omowunmi Dada, Chimezie Imo, Patience Ozokwor, and Stan Nze.

The film continues the story of Jenifa, who faces rivalry from a new neighbor threatening to outshine her charity organization. With this latest success, Funke Akindele has solidified her position as one of Nigeria's highest-grossing producers and directors.

Akindele's previous films, such as "Omo Ghetto: The Saga" and "Battle on Buka Street," have also broken box office records, despite increasing cinema ticket prices year on year. Her ability to consistently produce successful films has earned her a reputation as one of the most talented and innovative filmmakers in Nollywood.

The success of "Everybody Loves Jenifa" is not only a testament to Akindele's talent but also a reflection of the growing popularity of Nollywood films worldwide. As the Nigerian film industry continues to evolve and improve, it is likely that we will see more films like "Everybody Loves Jenifa" breaking records and achieving international success.
