Big Brother Naija (BBN) Season 9 is scheduled to premiere in July 2024, with a novel format that moves away from the traditional individual participation. The show will now require potential housemates to audition with a partner, which could be a friend, family member, or romantic partner.

The show's organizers have been teasing the new season on their official Instagram page, urging fans to mark their calendars for a Sunday in July, without disclosing the exact date. The auditions for season 9 began on March 27, 2024, with a twist requiring participants to apply in pairs.

Big Brother Africa reality star and actor, Tayo Faniran, expressed his displeasure with the show's current recruitment process. He criticized the show's organizers for recruiting new stars with what he sees as unremarkable backgrounds, contrasting it with his experience of multiple auditions over several years before being selected.

The exact date for the premiere has not been disclosed yet, but it has been confirmed that the new season will launch in July. Big Brother Naija management announced that the show will start officially on July 24, 2024, and it will be premiered on DStv channel 198 and GOtv channel 29.

The show will be hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu for the 8th consecutive season . Participants for the show must be citizens of Nigeria, be at least 21 years old, have a valid means of identification and be emotionally and mentally stable to handle the pressure of the show
