Former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi, has passed away at the age of 75. He was the first naval officer to become Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria, serving from 1999 to 2003, during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.



Admiral Ogohi's death was announced by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, in a statement on Sunday. The statement revealed that the former Chief of Defence Staff died in the early hours of Sunday at his residence in Abuja, after a brief illness.



Admiral Ogohi was born in November 1948 in Okura, Lafia, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. He had a distinguished military career, serving as the Chief of Defence Staff from 1999 to 2003.
