The mother of teen actress Angel Unigwe, Juliet Kings Unigwe, has taken legal action against veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, over an alleged breach of contract.

Kanayo had accused Angel of breaching a filming contract with his production firm after her mother took her home before the expiration of their contract duration ¹. He also stated that Unigwe's mother has a history of breaching contracts by removing her daughter away from sets prematurely .

However, in a statement shared on Angel's Instagram page, her mother described the allegation as false and defamatory . She stressed that they hold sacred the terms of any contract they enter into and are fully committed to performing all lawful obligations required of them.

Juliet Kings Unigwe further stated that legal action had been taken, and called on the security agencies to intervene in the matter and guarantee Angel's safety .

Angel's mother also termed Kanayo's statements and threats as cyberbullying, adding that his actions have caused emotional distress for her and her daughter.She highlighted that Kanayo's threats and allegations reflect a broader issue of gender-based oppression, noting that she and Angel have faced derogatory and defamatory remarks.

In response to Unigwe's mother's legal action, Kanayo told PREMIUM TIMES that he has not received any court order . He also said that he will respond when she brings it up, stating that he is waiting and wants to get it done the minute she brings it .
