On January 12, 2025, the nation was shaken by the gruesome murder of Salome Adaidu, a 24-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member. 


The suspect, 32-year-old Timileyin Ajayi, was arrested and charged with culpable homicide punishable by death. 


In a shocking turn of events, Ajayi pleaded not guilty to the crime despite overwhelming evidence.


According to reports, Salome Adaidu had visited Timileyin Ajayi at his residence in the Papalana axis at New Karshi in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. 


Ajayi, who claimed to be in a relationship with Adaidu, alleged that she was cheating on him. 


He stated that he discovered her infidelity through her phone and killed her in a fit of rage.


Ajayi was arrested while attempting to dispose of Adaidu's severed head. 


The police found the head in a bag, and Ajayi was taken into custody. 


On January 27, 2025, Timileyin Ajayi was arraigned before Justice Simon Aboki at the Nasarawa State High Court. 


Despite the overwhelming evidence against him, Ajayi pleaded not guilty to the charge of culpable homicide. 


The trial has been adjourned to March 17 and 20, 2025.


The case of Salome Adaidu's murder is a tragic reminder of the violence and brutality that exists in our society. 


As the trial continues, it is essential that justice is served, and the perpetrator is held accountable for his actions.
